Petra Class Studio
San Francisco, California
Petra Class was originally trained as a silversmith in Germany and spent several years constructing tableware. Accordingly, her approach to jewelry making has been informed foremost by the European tradition of applied art and deeply inspired by the natural world.
Petra Class Studio is a family-owned atelier that specializes in 22k and 18k recycled yellow gold and precious gemstones – designed to emphasize color, texture, and the playful combinations of cut and rough stones. The studio uses age-old techniques of gold smithing and hand forging, stretching the boundaries of conventional jewelry design.
Since the studio’s founding in California, where Petra immigrated to in 1991, it has grown into a robust atelier with gallery representation across the US. Petra, accompanied by her son Lucas, are the creative forces behind the studio, while her daughter-in-law Phoebe runs operations and several brilliant bench jewelers assist in production.
